- Tuscany is the birthplace of the Renaissance movement and it has a vast artistic heritage including the Uffizi, in Florence, one of the most famous art museums in the world. |
- Dante Alghieri, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli were all born in Tuscany. |
- The Palio takes place in Siena twice a year when a horse rider from 10 of the 17 neighbourhoods of the city takes part in a race around the Piazza del Campo. |
- Many famous wines, notably Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino, are produced in the Tuscan hills. |
